He is survived by: his wife Becky Stephens (Hand) of Burlington; his children, Jesse Blaise (Charlianne) of Quincy, IL, Christopher Heiniger (Angelica) of Alabama, Leonard Heiniger (Tabitha) of Davenport, IA, David Heiniger of North Liberty, IA, Daniel Heiniger (Brittany) of Norwalk, IA, Joscelyn May (Taylor) of Orlando, FL and Kaitlyn Stephens (Kyle Brown) of Burlington; his grandchildren, Jordyn, Collin, Grayson, Parker, Theron, Lexi and Dean; and his siblings, Tim Heiniger (Gena) of West Burlington, Doug Heiniger (Tari) of Mediapolis and Sandy Heckenberg (Larry) of Georgia.

A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
