He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Wayne and Mary Evangeline Getchell; his sisters, Wanda Waterman and Sharon Getchell; and his daughter-in-law Rosalie Getchell.
He is survived by: his wife Marjorie Getchell; his children, Dave Getchell (Jennifer) and Kayleen Mehaffy (Brad); his grandchildren, Damian Getchell (Jordan), Chris Mehaffy (Erin), Nick Mehaffy (Crystal), Kimberly Graham (Dylan), Shelby Tolle and Savannah Dowell; and his brother Melvin Getchell (Judy). He is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lunning Funeral Chapel (2620 Mt Pleasant St, Burlington, IA 52601). A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Peace Lutheran Church (13646 Beaverdale Rd, West Burlington, IA 52655).
