He was predeceased by : his parents, Arthur Long and Idah Long (Martin); and his brothers, Darrell A. Long and Larry Dean Long. He is survived by : his wife Sandra Geffers of Burlington; his daughters, Tammy Dean (Craig) of New London and Amy Long of Burlington; his grandchildren, Cassie Hobbs (Ridge) of New London and Bre Stuart (Brent) of New London; and his great grandchildren, Landon, Zoie, Chase and Rory.

A memorial has been established for Compassus Hospice, 119 E 2nd St, Washington IA 52353.
