He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy George and Marjorie Maude Holsteen Birkenstock; and his brothers, Jack, Daniel and Richard.
He is survived by: his wife Sue Ellen Birkenstock of Burlington; his children, Anne Marie Abel (Brian) of Yarmouth, Joseph Jeffrey Birkenstock (Shawn) of Burlington and Brian Thomas Birkenstock (Veronica) of Frisco, TX; his grandchildren, Lindsey, Josh, Kasey, Blake, Brianna, Andrew and Lauren; and his great grandchildren, Jake, Mateo, Tomas, Sela, Kenna, Jess and Henry.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for St. Mary's Catholic Church of Dodgeville.
