He was predeceased by: his parents, Warren Sommerfeld and Anita Sommerfeld; and his brothers, Tim Sommerfeld and John Sommerfeld. He is survived by: his wife Mary Sommerfeld of Maple Grove; his children, Paul Sommerfeld (William) of Arlington, Virginia, Gertrude Sommerfeld of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Elizabeth Jones (Craig) of Maple Grove; his grandchildren, S. J. and Bennett Jones; and his siblings, Jim Sommerfeld (Mary) of Arden Hills, Minnesota and Kathy Gedler (Tim). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Allen's memory to a veterans' organization of the donor's choosing.
