She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Rothmeyer and Dorothy Rothmeyer (Seidl); her siblings, Carleen McCarty, Suzanne Rothmeyer and Jim Rothmeyer; her brother-in-law John Nagl; and her in-laws, Ben and Florence Balk.
She is survived by: her husband Dan Balk; her children, Eric Balk (Kim Funston) of Norwalk, IA, Rebecca Wawak (Gary) of Des Moines, IA, Stephanie Bermudez (Mario) of Dardenne Prairie, MO, Kirk Balk (Colleen) of Killeen, TX and Sam Balk (Jami) of Omaha, NE; her siblings, Judy Nagl of Overland Park, KS, Mary Hupp (Ron) of Grimes, IA and Clarence Jr. Rothmeyer (Elaine) of Carroll, IA; and her sisters-in-law, Andrea Seversen (Ken) of Ft. Dodge, IA and Wanda Thackery (David) of Mount Vernon, IA. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM. A Mass was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. Lawrence Church – St. John (1607 N West St, Carroll, IA 51401).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation or the Dan and Carol Balk Scholarship Fund.
