He was predeceased by: his parents, Dennis Bauer and Judith Ziegmann (Goetzinger); his stepfather Clarence Ziegmann; his brother Dan Stevens; his brother-in-law Jim Riesberg; and his close friend Benji.
He is survived by: his daughters, Victoria Webber (Brent) of Marion and Vanessa Bauer (Devin Fraise) of Ollie; his granddaughter Avacyn Webber of Marion; and his siblings, Mark Bauer (Melanie) of Templeton, Jill Heithoff (Randy) of Roselle, Jeffrey Bauer (Alison) of Carroll, Mary Neal (Chris) of Marion, Jean Riesberg of Maple River and Pat Stevens of Ankeny. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 9:30 AM at the Sharp Funeral Home (226 W 8th St, Carroll, IA 51401). A prayer will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial donation to the Osteosarcoma Institute in honor of Douglas Bauer.
