It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jason Heller in Carroll, Iowa, born in Denison, Iowa, who passed away on August 16, 2025, at the age of 52, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Heller and LaRae Heller (Weems); his son Cody Ryan Heller; his brother Darwin Betterton; and his nephew Jeremy Short.
He is survived by: his siblings, Kaelyn Hass (Kurt) of Atlantic, Paula Brinegar of Centerville, Gayla Gross (Declan) of Earling, Sheila Smith of Gowrie, Shawn Wells (Roy) of Sioux Falls, Darcy Betterton (Jude Fox) of Irwin and Darrin Heller (Kathy Davidson) of Ceresco, Nebraska; his half-brother Mike Heller of Council Bluffs; his sister-in-law Sue Betterton of Caldwell, Idaho; his stepchildren, Heather Snopek of Ames, Kristin Lacina of Des Moines and Tim Ritt of Des Moines; and his close friend Jolene Halligan of Fort Dodge. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
