Verna Mayer Obituary

She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Wittrock and Rose Wittrock (Drees); her husband Leo Mayer; her daughter Irene Pierce; her siblings, Lucina Truhe (Wilbur), Fred Wittrock (Lucille), Regina Reineke (Clarence), Robert Wittrock and Elvera Daniel (Andrew); and her sister-in-law Joann Wittrock.
She is survived by: her children, Jerry Mayer (Debbie) of The Villages, FL, Anna Mae Mayer and Susan Stapleton (Joe); her granddaughters, Marita and Kathryn of Indianapolis, Indiana; her son-in-law Michael Pierce; her granddaughter-in-law Elizabeth Mata; her great grandchild Santiago Mata; her brothers, Harold Wittrock and Romen Wittrock (Verena); and her sisters-in-law, Arlene Wittrock and Veronica Quandt.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Thursday, July 31st 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM. A rosary will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Sharp Funeral Home (226 W 8th St, Carroll, IA 51401). A Mass will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Holy Spirit Church – St. John (1607 N West St, Carroll, IA 51401). A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the St. Mary's Cemetery. After retirement, Verna volunteered at the Saint Anthony Hospital gift shop, New Hope Village store, RSVP and sewed hundreds of quilt tops for the missions.
