Kathryn L. Kean Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Kathryn L. Kean of Cascade, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 31, 2025 at the age of 90. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Kathryn L. Kean to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Alphonse Koopmann and Anastasia Koopmann (Klocker); her husband James R. Kean of John's Catholic Church; her children, Troy Kean, Dennis Kean, Aaron Kean, Sherry Messer and Daniel Freeman; her great grandchild Olivia Barrett; her son-in-law Keith Adams; her siblings, Shawn Marie Koopmann, Lois Kramer and Dan Koopmann (Nancy); her in-laws, Clyde and Anna Delores Kean; and her siblings-in-law, Robert Kean (Susan), John Kean, Donald Johnson and Norma Kean.
She is survived by: her children, Johnna Norpel of Richfield, MN, Gretchen Adams of Cape Girardeau, MO, Roxanne Simon (Jeff) of Farley, Rose McQuillen (Alan) of Peosta and Cindy Cook (Phil) of Dubuque; her daughter-in-law Denise Freeman of Cascade; and her siblings, Pat Koopmann (Deanna) of Dubuque, Gerald Koopmann (Joann) of Epworth, Ambrose Koopmann (Marlene) of Epworth, Tom Koopmann (Helen) of Cascade, Fred of Bennett and Steve Koopmann of Bennett. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A prayer will be held on Friday, August 8th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Reiff Funeral Home (115 E Main St, Epworth, IA 52045). Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, August 9th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church (102 1st St SE, Epworth, IA 52045).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on Kathryn's behalf to The Alzheimer's Society or the Epworth community food pantry.
