He is survived by : his significant other Rebecca "Becky" McCallum of Cascade, IA; his sons, Mitchelle McDermott of Madison, WI, Marshall McDermott of Cascade, IA, Miles McDermott of Cascade, IA and Mace McDermott of Dubuque, IA; his grandsons, Jeremy, Alex and Sean; his siblings, Louise Tauke (Wayne) of Edgewood, IA, Leo "Stud" McDermott (Suzanne) of Bernard, IA, Marilyn Ryan (James) of Dubuque, IA, Ellen Koerperick of Placid, IA, Jean Steffen of Dubuque, IA and Gery "Baldy" McDermott (Jane) of Bernard, IA.; and his friends, Twilight and Benji. He is also survived by his family and friends.

A prayer was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Reiff Funeral Home (205 Hayes St SW, Cascade, IA 52033).
