She was predeceased by: her parents, Irma Hartman (Chambers) and Carl Hartman; and her sister Janice Weaver. She is survived by: her husband Gary; her children, Jennifer, Timothy, Stephanie and Steven; and her brother Larry. She is also survived by five grandchildren, and numerous cousins.

Visitation was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. John American Lutheran Church (715 College St, Cedar Falls, IA 50613).

Marlene was placed in memory care at Western Homes with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's.
