She was predeceased by: her husband Dean H. Gesme, Sr.. She is survived by: her children, Dr. Dean H. Gesme, Jr. (Laura), Karen Brunssen and Martha Nielsen (Peter); her grandchildren, Greta Wicker (Colin), Kerstin Balfour (Don), Erika Gesme, Karl Brunssen and Emma Nielsen (Michael); and her great grandchildren, Chase, Parker Balfour, Soren, Berit, Silje Wicker and Kell Kavanaugh.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 6th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church (1000 3rd Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403). A reception will be held on Saturday, June 6th 2026 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Cottage Grove Place (2115 1st Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402).
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be directed to: Vermont Lutheran Church in Black Earth, Wisconsin, or Vesterheim Norwegian American Museum.
