She was predeceased by: her parents, William Coons and Inez Coons (Selander); her husband Andrew John Hauter; her daughter Lisa Anne Hauter; and her brothers, Charles Allen Coons and Thomas William Coons.
She is survived by: her children, Sonja Hauter (Bernard Miller) and Steven Hauter (Melinda Nagle).
Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or the League of Women Voters of Linn County, Iowa.
