He was predeceased by: his parents, Vincent Smith and Beatrice Smith (Barry); and his wife Janet Elizabeth McVay. He is survived by: his children, Kim LeClere of Marion, IA, Shelley Rudish (Jeff) of Cedar Rapids, IA and Barry S. Smith (Toni); his grandchildren, Justin (Stephanie), Cory (Sarah), Melissa (Blaine), Jenna (Kasey), Connor, Alexis and Cole; his great grandchildren, Collin, Jayden, Rutledge, Harrison, Charlie, Cora, Avery and Kallum; and his sister-in-law Barb Burns (Bill) of Marion, IA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
