He was predeceased by: his parents, John Thiessen and Myrtle Thiessen (Signs); his parents-in-law, Fred and Elva Ledger; his siblings, Francis (Faye), Norman (Margaret), Emma and Martha; and his siblings-in-law, Ronald, Charles, Richard and Irene.

He is survived by: his wife Janette Ledger; his sons, Doug Thiessen (Sonya) of Macomb, IL and Matt Thiessen (Sara) of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Bethany (Wyatt), Skylar and Zach; his great grandchild Paisley; his siblings, Bruce Thiessen (Charla), Wanda Mauck, Margaret Fetter (George) and Freda Hurlburt (Steve); and his sister-in-law Arlene Ledger. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
