He was predeceased by: his parents, Burnette Haefner and Swanetta Haefner (Walters). He is survived by: his wife Judy Haefner of Cedar Rapids; his children, Jan Patterson (Jeff) of Fort Worth, Kirk Haefner (Brenda) of Cedar Rapids and Jason Haefner (Tory) of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Amanda Patterson, Ben Patterson (Emily), Avery Haefner, Madison Haefner, Olivia Haefner, Maxwell Haefner, Charles Haefner, Whitcomb Haefner, Claire Haefner and Preston Haefner; and his great grandchild Rhodes Patterson.

Denny was a member of All Saints Catholic Church for 47 years, as well as the Fortunaires Foundation and the Izaak Walton League.
