He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Hemmingsen and Hilda Hemmingsen (Andersen); and his brothers, Raynor and Vernon Hemmingsen. He is survived by: his wife Ginger Kraft of Cedar Rapids; his children, Christopher Hemmingsen (Tracey) of Cedar Rapids and Shawn Hemmingsen of Stillwater, MN; his grandchildren, Revan, Harper Hemmingsen and Mya Boothe; and his brother Frank Hemmingsen of Elk Horn, IA..
