He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Victor Johnson and Blenda Johnson (Palmquist); his wife Phyllis; his caregiver Phyllis; his sister Audrey; and his children, Peter (Margaret), Tim (Janet), Linnea (Byron) and Ann. He was also cherished by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, along with countless friends.

Donations may be made in his name to First Lutheran Church, Meth-Wick Community, or Kids First Law Center in Cedar Rapids.
