He was predeceased by: his parents, Violet Castelein, (Woodworth) and Edward Louis Castelein, Sr.; his son John Castelein; and his sisters, Gloria Miller and Clarice Johnson.

He is survived by: his former wife Katherine Corcoran; his child Chris Castelein (DJ) of Hiawatha, Iowa; his grandchildren, Sophia Castelein and Owen Castelein; and his sister Grace Castelein Fisher.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Promise House Memory Care unit or an Alzheimer's charity of the donor's choice.
