Irene Hamous Obituary
It is with sadness that the passing of Irene Hamous (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) is shared. Irene, born on February 2, 1933, passed away on June 20, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George Naxera and Alma Naxera (Hajny); her husband Don Hamous; her brothers, Vic and Max Naxera; and her granddaughter Sarah Hamous.
She is survived by: her sons, Bruce Hamous (Barbara) of Cedar Rapids and Steve Hamous (Janet) of Wichita, KS; her grandchildren, Brandon Hamous (Sandy), James Hamous, Christina Stanbrough (Nick), AJ Hamous and Michael Hamous; Czech. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
Through her work with and support of the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, she was able to make a significant contribution to educating the public about the Czech culture and traditions.
