He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Snyder and Elfriede Snyder (Heisterkamp); and his siblings, Shirley Schmitt and Raymon Snyder. He is survived by: his son Peter Snyder, MD (Christinia Bohannan) of Iowa City, IA; his wife Nancy Snyder (Peterson); his daughter Amy Scott (Dave) of Mckinney, TX.; his grandchildren, Nicholas Staub (Allison) of Minneapolis, MN, Kelsey Staub of Seattle, WA, Michael Staub of Sioux City, IA, Eli Scott, Ethan Scott, Ean Scott of McKinney, TX, Brie Lemon of Des Moines, IA, Travis Lemon of Ankeny, IA and Mira Bohannan Kumar of Iowa City, IA.; his sister Betty Koesling; and his siblings-in-law, Lois Snyder and Rodger Peterson (Su). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
