He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Stranathan and Faye Stranathan (Speckmann). He is survived by: his wife Donna Stranathan of Cedar Rapids; his daughters, Tracy Donels (Troy) of Hiawatha and Kelly West (Brandon) of Peoria, Arizona; his granddaughters, Mariela Bieberach of Peoria and Taylor Donels of Hiawatha, Iowa; and his siblings, Laurie Pearson (Bob) of Dallas Center, Iowa and Craig Stranathan of Maysville.
