It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Louis Selk of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who passed away on June 12, 2025, at the age of 43, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the sacred silence of farewell, John Louis is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that his light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of his loved ones. And as his memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that John Louis' spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Louie, Flossie Selk (Rippel) of Keystone, Willis and Laveta Boman (Lankford) of Neosho, MO.. He is survived by: his partner Scott Blanchard; his parents, Lynn Selk and Brenda Selk (Keystone); his sister Carrie Driscoll (Fort Dodge); and his nieces and nephews, Mira Selk, Ellie Driscoll, Henry Selk and Vincent Driscoll.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E 6th St, Vinton, IA 52349). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
