He is survived by: his wife Alma Happel of Cedar Rapids; his children, Rachel Happel and Gregory Happel (Andrea); his grandsons, Martin, August and Stefan Happel; and his nieces and nephews, Larry Happel, Joel Happel (Susan), Charlie Happel (Anne), Ron Happel (Kris), Jamie Jorgensen (Amanda), Jeanine Efflandt, Peggy Badger (John), Barbara Badger (Jamie), Karen McVicker (Gary) and Janet Brown (Dennis).
Memorials may be directed to King of Kings Lutheran Church and the Alzheimer's Association in Lesters name.
