She was predeceased by: her parent Willie Mae Henry; and her brothers, James Edward Henry, Joe Nathan Henry and Kenneth Leroy Henry. She is survived by: her husband Godfrey Alexander; her siblings, Brenda H. Young of San Antonio, Mary English (Gary) of Peoria and Richard Henry (Jalon) of Montgomery, Alabama; and her aunt Virginia Grant of Cincinnati, Ohio. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
In 1986, she helped start the Sickle Cell Foundation in Beaumont, Texas and later in Austin, Texas.
