With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Maria Escalante of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. She was predeceased by: her father Alberto Escalante. She is survived by: her husband Daniel Smith; her mother Maria Cortina; her sister Mercedes Garcia (Eduardo); her niece Mercedes; her nephews, Eduardo and Alberto; and her pet Oscar. She is also survived by three great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20th 2025 at 9:30 AM at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church (120 5th St NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 20th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Saint Patrick Catholic Church (120 5th St NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405). A burial will be held on Friday, June 20th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the St. Joseph Cemetery (1122 Dodge Road Northeast, Iowa City, IA 52401).
