She was predeceased by: her father Alberto Escalante. She is survived by: her husband Daniel Smith; her mother Maria Cortina; her sister Mercedes Garcia (Eduardo); her sibling's children, Mercedes, Eduardo and Alberto; and her pet Oscar. She is also survived by three great-nieces and nephews.
