We announce the death of Mary Jo Votrobeck of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, born in Dubuque, Iowa, who passed away on August 23, 2026, at the age of 75. Mary Jo will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her father Matthew Hanlon; her parents-in-law, George and Lorayne Votrobeck; her sister Ida May Barker; her nephew Andy Eganhouse; and her great grandchild Kaius Garcia (Norm Hedgecoth).
She is survived by: her mother Mary Hanlon (Hein); her children, Cara Jo Gilds of Cedar Rapids, Jason Hedgecoth of Cedar Rapids and Adam Votrobeck (Rebecca) of Cedar Rapids; her husband Robert G. Votrobeck; her siblings, Matthew Hanlon (Lisa) of Anamosa, Janice Hahn (Steve) of Epworth and Pattie Hanlon (Mike) of Cedar Rapids; and her siblings-in-law, Richard Votrobeck (Barb) of Portland, Ronald Votrobeck (Maxine) of Elberon, Iowa, Brenda Kerr (Terry) of Marion and Bonnie Biddle (Jim) of Orion, Illinois. She is also survived by her children; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A memorial service was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
