He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Barta and Mary Ann Barta; his siblings, Lynda Goodell (Bill), Eileen Sylvester, Margaret Cones, Katie Barta and Jon Barta; and his brothers-in-law, Scott Buechel, Cliff Rice and Roger Waud.
He is survived by: his wife Pam; his children, Luke Barta (Sara) and Emma MacTaggart (Austin); his grandsons, Owen and Sawyer; and his siblings, JoAnn Rice, Jean Johnson, Charles "Chuck" Barta (Sheila), Paul Barta and Sandy Lorentzen (Paul). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Ellis Golf Course Event Center (1401 Zika Ave NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date.
