He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph "Joe" Courtney and Bernadine Courtney (Carolan); his son Patrick; and his brothers-in-law, Rocky Miller and Roger Formanek.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Courtney of Cedar Rapids; his children, Kelly Zimmerman (Mike) of Marion, Robert Courtney (Kim) of Fishers and Mary Simpson (Ed) of Rogers, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Michael Zimmerman of Des Moines, Sean Zimmerman of Scottsdale, Conner of Fishers, Indiana, Kate of Fishers, Indiana and Jack Courtney of Fishers, Indiana; and his siblings, Helen Stobaugh (Jim) of Lake Placid, Tom Courtney (Judy) of McKinney, Lucy Miller of Cedar Rapids, Mary Formanek of Cedar Rapids, Frank Courtney (Mary Jean) of San Clemente, Danny Courtney of Phoenix and Theresa Jensen (Gary) of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial fund has been established in Mike's memory or donations can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
