He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael "Mike" Banowetz and Wilhelmina "Minnie" Banowetz (Reuter). He is survived by: his former wife Alma S. Banowetz (Kloft); his wife Patricia Ann Berglund; his sons, Gary Banowetz (Sandie) of Corvallis, Bernard Banowetz (Julie) of Central Point and Thomas Banowetz (Cindy) of Marion, Iowa; his sister-in-law Anna Mae Banowetz of Houma, Louisiana; his grandchildren, Katie Jo Carey (Brandon), Aaron Banowetz (Liz), Matt Banowetz (Sarah), Sarah Eason (Amos) and Daniel Banowetz; his great grandchildren, Sophia, Maxine Carey, Abigail, Collin Banowetz, Joseph, Jonathan, Rebekah Banowetz, Beza, Nati Kejella, Cadence Pierce and Warren Eason; his siblings, Leo, Victor, Lawrence, Vincent, Leonard, Walter, Paul, Theodore, Norbert, Donald Banowetz, Elizabeth McDevitt, Gertrude Weis Daehler and Clara Weis Hermiston; and his grandson Andrew Banowetz. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (1790 14th St, Marion, IA 52302). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ray's name may be directed to Camp Courageous of Iowa.
