It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Donels of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, born in Shellsburg, Iowa, who passed away on January 4, 2023, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Donels and Frances Donels (Albert); his wife Rebecca Donels; his brothers, Dennis Donels and Dean Donels; his siblings-in-law, Jan Donels, Yvonne Donels and Robert Jewett; his great grandchild Arlen Farley; his niece Heidi Donels; and his pet Harley.
He is survived by: his children, Darcy McGuire (David) of Cedar Rapids, Scott Donels (Angie) of Cedar Rapids and Jodi Olson (Eric) of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Kailey Sells (Eric), Kara McGuire, Heather Farley (Dan), Kaleb Donels (Caitlin), Alyssa Gingrich (Jason) and Alex Olson; his siblings, Joan Jewett of Duncan, Stanley Donels (Donna) of Cedar Rapids and Dwayne Donels of Arizona; his sister-in-law Carol Kindl of Cedar Rapids; his close friend Beatrice Schmidt of Cedar Rapids; and his pets, Buttons and Tiny. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a fund to be established.
