He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Bumsted and Ada Bumsted (Kuns); and his wife Barbara Bumsted. He is survived by: his children, Dian Finn (Kevin) of Eden Prairie and Dennis Bumsted (Beverly) of Marion, Iowa; his granddaughters, Kristin Finn and Kimberly Bumsted; his great grandchildren, Kinleigh Bumsted and Murphy Taylor; and his close friend Barbara Schnipkoweit.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a donation to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
