It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert F. Barta of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who passed away on January 21, 2023, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Barta and Winifred Barta (Vondra); his brother Emil Barta (Marian); and his son-in-law Brian Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Marcella Svoboda; his children, Shirlee Barta Nelson of Cedar Rapids, Katherine Carew (Wilfred) of Cedar Rapids and Bob Barta (Kathy) of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Erin Strickland (Damon), Nicholas Carew (Joalene), Ryan Morrissey (Emily), Sean Morrissey, Kyle Morrissey (Jamie), Joshua Barta (Abbie) and Kara Gruber (David); his nieces, Betty, Anita, Jeanne and Arlene; and his nephew Ken. He is also survived by twenty-two great-grandchildren.
