He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald L. Ovel and Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Ovel; and also Audrey Linge Ovel. He is survived by: his wife Susan Ovel of Cedar Rapids; his sons, Chad (Thu) and Vietnam; his siblings, G. Scott Ovel of Cedar Rapids and Barbara Lemon of Hiawatha, Iowa.; his grandchildren, Vienna, Isabella Ovel, Vietnam, Emma, Olivia and Claire; and his siblings' children, Zach Ovel, Stacey Crist (Mitchell) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa., Melissa Doudna (Matt) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. and Jennifer Durgin (Erin) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa..
