With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gerald Batey of Cedar, Iowa, who passed away on March 5, 2026 at the age of 74. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid Gerald farewell, let us not mourn the absence of his physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of his spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Gerald is not truly gone, but merely transformed, his energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Maxine Batey (Dutton) and Mervin Batey. He is survived by: his brother Lester Batey; his stepsisters, Erika Miller (Jay) of Mount Vernon, Marlene Jeffery and Doris Hughes (Dewane); and his cousins, Bonnie Jones of Cedar Rapids, Mary Von Voltenburg of Cedar Rapids and John McDonogh of Florida.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the family.
