With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Diane Lee Steele of Centerville, Iowa, who passed away on October 12, 2025 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Dr. James L. Steele (Jim); her parents, Boyd Sumpter and Pauline Huffman Sumpter; and her brother Donald Sumpter. She is survived by: her daughters, Kimberly K. Tucker (James S. Tucker, Jr.) of Greeneville and Heather D. Holborn (Melvin Ty Holborn) of Manhattan, Kansas; her grandchildren, Joshua A. Tucker and Peyton S. Holborn; and her siblings, Cheryl Scieszinski (Eddie Scieszinski) of Albia, Joyce Tullius (John Tullius) of Upland, California, Mark Sumpter of Apple Valley and Douglas Sumpter (Janet Sumpter) of Artesia, California..
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home-Centerville (501 N 18th St, Centerville, IA 52544). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
