With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John Merritt Eddy of Centerville, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 9, 2026 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Edna Eddy (Fox) and Frank Merritt Eddy; his brother James Eddy; his children, Johnny Eddy and Susie Eddy (Harris); and his nephew Frank Eddy.
He is survived by: his wife Carole Eddy; his daughters, Kathleen Van Dale, Linda Ballanger and Judith Topp (Bill); his grandchildren, Eli Shetler, Tabbatha Hiatt (Troy), Rachel Shetler, Candace Potter, Cindy Potter, Justin Ballanger (Carrie), Amber Van Zante (Jon), Amanda Ballanger, Lacy Nickel (Brett), Jonathen and Mullins; his brother George Eddy (Mary); and his sons-in-law, Mike Mullins and Jack Ballanger. He is also survived by great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
