He was predeceased by: his father John W. Potter Sr.; his wife Sherry Potter; his mother Ruth Potter Sr. (Mincks); and his siblings, Raymond Potter and Alice Potter.
He is survived by: his sister Lois Howard; his nephews, Kelley Potter and Bruce Potter; his stepchildren, Kathryn Brown (John), Jill Redwine and Jeff Byers; and his stepgrandchildren, Ashley Ellis, Britney Sheffield, Nicholas Byers, Tyler Brown and Zachary Byers.
