He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles Gardner and Nadyne Gardner (Jordan) of Centerville, Iowa.; and his siblings, Beverly Peckham (Tom) and Jimmy Gardner. He is survived by : his caregiver Richard; his wife Barbara Gardner of Centerville; his children, Jordan Lee Gardner of Centerville and Julie Mihalovich (Dan) of Centerville; his granddaughter Kelsey Anne Mihalovich of Windsor Heights, Iowa; and his siblings, Leroy Gardner (Janice) of Urbandale, Phyllis Thomas (Gary) of Centerville and Rosalee Inman (Richard) of Hamilton, Ohio.

“He was a memory maker! Not only was I thrilled to fly with him as his young niece, doing loops or rolls, or scaring some poor farmer on his tractor, once he told me “the rubber band broke” and he cut the engine and we landed in a field…I laughed and laughed, but actually we did have engine failure!”
