She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Kaufman and Mabel Kaufman (Behounek); her in-laws, Jerry Jr. and Wilma Akers; her siblings, Jim Kaufman and Betty; her brother-in-law Ray Coleman; and her uncle Bob Jones.
She is survived by: her husband Merle Akers; her children, Doug (Yamil) of Coggon, Chris (Robin) of Iowa City, Tom (Kelly) of Cambridge and Pam Carlin (Dave) of Ankeny; her grandchildren, Cody Akers (Andrea), Jordyn Box (Stephen), Austin Akers (Shannen), Kaelyn Trevisani (Thiago), Nathan Carlin (Karlee), Abby Carlin, Tristan Akers (Hannah Marie), Hannah Akers, Ryan Carlin, Olivia Akers and Evan Akers; her great grandchildren, Evelyn Akers, Vivian Akers, Mason Trevisani and Eleanor Carlin; her sister-in-law Jerry (Nancy Akers); and her aunt Dorothy Jones of Hurst, Texas. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at the St. Stephen's Catholic Church (4700 Valley Farm Rd, Central City, IA 52214). A Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location.
