She was predeceased by: her parents, Guy Heston and Neva Heston; her husband Jim Kerns; and her siblings, Louise Bell, Betty Heston, Floyd Heston, Bob Heston and Harold Heston.

She is survived by: her children, Bill Kerns (Barb Grabner-Kerns), Jeff Kerns (Donna), Jill Kerns and Mike Kerns (April); and her grandchildren, Jacob Kerns (Maggie McGinnis-Kerns), Emily Waltz (Stephen), Abby Kerns-Lester (Tyler Lester), Elizabeth Kerns and Samuel Kerns. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, many relatives, dear friends.

Memorials may be made to the Chariton Christian Church or the Lucas County Inter-Church Council.
