It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Brandt E Yocom of Chariton, Iowa, who passed away on April 15, 2024, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Curt Sr. Yocom and Shirlie Yocom; and his grandparents, Dr. Albert L. and Jennie Curtis Yocom. He is survived by : his children, Madelyn Yocom Meyers (John) of Des Moines, IA and Blake Yocom of Russell, IA; his grandchildren, Adair, Veda and Ames Meyers; his brother Curt Jr. Yocom (Kate); and his nieces and nephews, Tess, Taylor and Claire Yocom.

A funeral service was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 at 2:30 PM at 1110 N 6th St, Chariton, IA 50049.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Chariton Community Development Corporation ("CCDC"; 501 (c)(3)) Foundation/Yocom Park Memorial Fund in honor of Brandt's dedication to his community.

“Brandt was a friend to everyone he met. Competing with Brandt in high school when Chariton played Iowa City West High, was where we first met. Then at Iowa, playing different sports, we continued our friendship which lasted forever. Sitting together at the Drake Relays watching our daughters compete were extra special moments. My deepest condolences to Brandt's family, we have lost a very kind and special friend. Mike Gatens”
