Don Burgett Obituary

We announce the death of Don Burgett of Chariton, Iowa, who passed away on July 14, 2026, at the age of 75. Don will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his father Gene "Burgey" Burgett. He is survived by: his mother Betty Burgett; his wife Janet Burgett; his children, Todd Burgett (Dena), Tara Sheets (Jeremy), Katie Holzworth and Amanda Lusmann (Pat); his grandchildren, Jake Burgett, Josie Bowman (Beau), Payton Fouch (Grant), Parker Sheets, Grayson Holzworth, Reece Holzworth, Hunter Holzworth, Ellie Lusmann, Dottie Lusmann, Carolynn Lusmann and Archie Lusmann; his great grandchildren, Braylee, Briggs and Pierce; and his siblings, Connie Gwinn (Gene), Bonnie Smith (Bruce), Lonnie Gwinn (Garry) and Ron Burgett (Noelle). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Cemetery or in care of the family to be used for a project at the Iowa State Fair.
