With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Wayne VanderVeer (Chariton, Iowa), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 19, 2026 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Engle VanderVeer and Hazel VanderVeer (Milledge); and his siblings, Jim, Roy, Jack, Lavonne and Violet.

He is survived by: his wife Betty VanderVeer (Pottorff); his sons, Mike VanderVeer (Cathy), Richard VanderVeer (Kathy) and Russell VanderVeer (Norma); his grandchildren, Sheila (Nick), Steven, Michelle, Jamie (Hannah) and Jeffrey (Shannon); his siblings, Paul VanderVeer (Ruth), Engle VanderVeer (Sharon) and Patty Williams; and his friends, Dennis and Brenda McKee. He is also survived by many other family members and friends.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family, or to the VA Hospital of Central Iowa.
