He is survived by: his wife Donna Main of Cherokee, Iowa; his children, Jeff Nelson (Penny) of Harlan, Scott Nelson (Katie) of Mason City, Iowa and Shelly Vesper (Jim) of Kellogg, Iowa; his grandchildren, Shelby Book (Dylan), Alex Nelson (Becky), Blake Nelson and Jacob Nelson; his great grandchildren, Craten, Mavrik, Emmett and Chloe Nelson; and his sisters, Verna Christensen of Harlan and Linda Brue of Harlan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church (230 N Roosevelt Ave, Cherokee, IA 51012). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Danway Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial to the Trinity Lutheran Church or the Trinity Lutheran Pre-School.
