He was predeceased by : his parents, James Brown and Iva Brown (Summers); his former life partner Darlene Juel; his wife Pauline Feenstra; his brothers, Jim Brown (Else Mae), Charles Duane Brown (Delores) and Royce Brown; and his daughter-in-law Tammy Hercha-Brown.

He is survived by : his children, Sandra, Randall, Mike Brown of Cherokee, Iowa, Randy Brown of Waynesville, Missouri and Sandy Trei (Steve) of Adel, Iowa; his stepchildren, Wayne Feenstra of Plainview and Janean Speicher (Jeff) of Eldora, Iowa; and his sister-in-law Shirley Brown. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
