He was predeceased by: his father John H Cook (Jack); and his pets, Shane, Bailey and Marley. He is survived by: his wife Jan Allison Cook (Fisher); his children, Erin Elizabeth Webster (Nick) and Jason Matthew Cook (Miranda); his grandchildren, Shay Webster, Colin Webster, Addie Webster, Jack Cook and Tyler Cook; and his pet Charley.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in John's honor giving to causes that were especially important to him, The St. Paul's United Methodist Church Next Generation Fund and the Cherokee Education Foundation Endowment Fund.
