It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Laverne W. Gano in Cherokee, Iowa, born in Quimby, Iowa, who passed away on April 17, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his mother Irma Gano (Booth); his wife Vera Mae Berding (Pick); and his siblings, Marilyn and Gary. He is survived by : his father Marvin Gano; his siblings, Sharon Edwards, Rick Gano, Terry Gano (Joann), Kenny Gano (Maureen) and Rock Gano (Gwen); and his children, Dan Gano (late Linda), Kim Travlos (Greg), Rick Berding (Carla), Deb Erickson (Chuck), Dave Berding (Tammy), Mark Berding (Erica) and Cory Gano (Allison). He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren and a wide circle of relatives, friends, and his beloved neighbors.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 1st 2024 at 9:30 AM at the First Church of Christ (772 N 2nd St, Cherokee, IA 51012). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 1st 2024 at 10:30 AM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Cherokee Fire Department or Cherokee Mid Sioux Food Bank.
