We announce the death of Mary Jane Larson (Cherokee, Iowa), who passed away on October 17, 2026, at the age of 79. Mary Jane will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul "Darrel" Beeson and Olive Beeson (Dessel); her friend Lynde Lundquist; her siblings, Mary, Patricia Meyer-Hentz and Thomas Beeson; and her brother-in-law LaVern Meyer.
She is survived by: her husband Bill of Cherokee; her daughters, Heather Larson of Omaha, NE, Stacey VanBeek (Kelly) of Brookings, SD and Teresa Friedrichsen (Jeff) of Cherokee; her grandchildren, William Larson, Emma Beyer (Jacob), Jacob Friedrichsen (Jada), Eva Frederick, Sydney VanBeek and Grace Vostad; her great grandchildren, Joseph, Isaiah, Laurel and Adriana Beyer; and her siblings-in-law, Erick Larson (Karen) and Theresa Larson. She is also survived by nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church (300 E Bow Dr, Cherokee, IA 51012). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Songs & Smiles, a nonprofit organization founded and operated by Mary's niece Sheryl and her husband Eric, with Stacey serving on its Board of Directors. The organization is dedicated to providing support and resources for caregivers of individuals living with Alzheimer's disease.
